Domain Holders Views and Comments from 2007

End users can use these letters - there are plenty of companies with the same letters that operate in different markets in different countries. There are many companies that use three letters in their name. .COM is the premium TLD. The internet supports the use of Hyphens. L-L-L.COM is easy to remember, easily brandable and much cheaper than the LLL.COM equivalent allowing an end user a much cheaper point of entry. L-L-L.COM is the best alternative to LLL.COM with the addition of two extra characters.

LLL.COM is proven and there is no reason why L-L-L.COM can't follow in it's footsteps and replicate similar success.
Essentially it all comes down to the Hyphen. Two of them acting as delimiters. symmetrical in appearance. What value/cost do we put on the Hyphen in the use of the domain name. LLL.COM keeps going up - what effect does that have
on the value/cost of the hyphen. There are proven sales to End Users paying XXXX. There are now many reseller sales in XXX. resellers can trade amongst them selves or sell to end user. Internet is Global so non premium English letters can be premium non English letters.

There are only 17,576 L-L-L.com with at least 25% being end user web sites. Every combination has been registered. L-L-L.com that drop are being caught which means zero to hand register. Definition of L-L-L.com scarcity. If enough people want L-L-L.com when there are low numbers to trade then the demand increases for them. The demand is higher because the supply is low and not necessary because the price is low. Scarcity is a measure of supply. If L-L-L.com are scarce, then the supply of L-L-L.com is low. And if many people want to trade L-L-L.com when none are available, then demand is high because of a low supply caused by scarcity.

Interesting statistical information. I didn't want to bring it up earlier but rather wait until I have several months of data to bring to the show. Relating to the value of L-L-L.com domains in the marketplace as a whole and the debate on whether or not the "-" hurts or inhibits the use of these domains via direct navigation or searched traffic. I have SIX months of data on the test group and 3 months of data on a completely separate set of newer domains in another test group... one at Parked and the other at NameDrive and the results are very interesting. Of BOTH groups, the traffic analysis is consistent...
42% direct navigation 44% Google Search Traffic 14% alternative search traffic (MSN, YAHOO, etc)

While the percentage points are +- a point or two for both groups, the results are surprisingly similar. about half the traffic is Direct Navigation while the other half is Search traffic. That's GREAT! We've speculated that the fact that Google (and others) don't recognize the dashes is a benefit and works to drive traffic and we've speculated that end users won't hesitate to use dashes. In both cases, it's absolutely true! What was VERY surprising is that we also speculated that the bulk of our direct navigation traffic would come from OUTSIDE the United States/Canada where browsers are more accustomed to using dashes... but... Nearly 60% of the traffic came from the US alone.

China being the 2nd highest with just under 30% and Italy 3rd with roughly 11% of the total traffic. Italy? The remainder is made up of Eur-asian countries with Germany falling into that >1% margin. Which is totally OFF our predictions. So, what does this all mean? Well, I think it means that end users should DEFINITELY look to these domains as an alternative to high priced, cyber-squatter laden LLL.com domains because the Direct and Search traffic patterns are nearly IDENTICAL to the lower priced counterparts. Within reason... there are some yahoos on this and other forums that are asking the same prices for these L-L-L.coms as LLL.coms (have you looked at TDNAM or BuyDomains lately?).

If we want to keep the ball rolling and get these domains into the hands of end users, we need to put a halt to the obvious price gouging for these domains and keep them attainable for the end users. Otherwise, they will end up being categorized as ridiculous and turn the buyers away... and then where's our value? There is a delicate balance between a good return and price gouging. Let's keep that in mind. IF we do, we can all make some good money on a healthy and liquid market. The stats show that the market is prime and using these domains. Let's get them out there.

t hese L-L-L.com are an investment not a day trade. You are not going to reg zqx on a day completing the buyout and flip for $xxx. These are an alternative/companion play to the hot LLL.com market. Only one company per LLL combo can own the LLL.com. Their price is going up at a pace unlike few investments over the past four years with an ongoing bias to the upside. So now you can provide another end user with a need for those same letters who either cannot afford or cannot attain the LLL.com. This is a marathon not a sprint and the people who started the threads and got behind L-L-L.com never said anything to the contrary.

The results of my study. That in a sample of 1040 domains (520 LLL.biz and 520 L-L-L.com), there were more developed L-L-L.com (~25%) than LLL.biz(~15%) despite the fact that LLL.biz with poor letters sell for more than 10X reg fee.

Success is achieved by buying things before they become popular and selling them once they become popular. A lesson I wish I would have learned many years ago. Why do people register these domains? Aside from the fact that it has only three letters? LLL.com 17.5K combinations L-L-L.com. 17.5k Combinations, looks exactly the same in letters to the eye but more cheaper at this stage of the game for end users. What was one of those old sayings (It was right infront of my nose but i didn't see it)

A few points two to three years ago people said that L-L.com had no value they were mad, the people regging. Two to three years ago people said people were mad for buying LLL.com for $300. L-L.com go for $2k plus resellers at the minimum, sometimes allot more. Why should l-l-l.com go for $7 apart from the fact there are thousands left, they wont last forever though. The most companies and businesses in the world have LLL acronym not LL okay LL is highly desirable as is LLL, they will always be top notch property but there will only be one LLL.com acronym of its kind. i sold f-h-e $1500 on my sales site, cheap for them and sure as hell beats their original long domain address. Memorable and balanced domain to look at five keystrokes is no hardship.
